Boardroom seeks an editor who can bring compelling stories to life on the cutting edge of sports business, as well as willingly tackle topics like entertainment, betting and fantasy, trading cards and collectibles, crypto, gaming and esports, sneakers, and the cannabis industry.
This position is contract to hire with an initial commitment of ~20 hours/week.
Responsibilities * Edit and optimize articles adhering to Boardroom style and SEO best practices * Pitch and write stories that shape and enhance the Boardroom brand * Proactively participate in brainstorms around upcoming events calendar * Help assign stories to writers and support them in developing/executing their own original concepts * Work closely with Managing Editor and Head of Audience Development on short- and long-term traffic growth strategy * Staying up-to-date on sports business news and trends and translating relevant news into creative output
Qualifications * 2+ years of experience as an editor covering sports and/or business, pop culture, and tech * Demonstrated ability to publish clean stories in a deadline-driven environment. * An entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to pitch new ideas * Eagerness to bring a sense of style and point of view to your work while staying faithful to Boardroom’s voice * Availability to work on evenings and weekends when necessary * Candidates without knowledge of SEO best practices will not be considered * Candidates with content strategy experience will be preferred
